About
In January 2010, I began to work at the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies as a post-doctoral researcher and coordinator for the newly established Hamburg International Graduate School for the Study of Regional powers. In October 2010, I have been appointed Head of GIGA Research Program 4 on "Power, Norms and Governance in International Relations". In this position, I lead a research team representing the discipline of International Relations at our institution. As a team, we focussed on the study of regional and emerging powers of the Global South. Another focal point was global governance and transnational norm-building process, but, obviously, plurality of topics and approaches is encouraged.
In March 2012, I have been appointed Academic Director of the Doctoral Program at the GIGA and the Hamburg International Graduate School for the Study of Regional Powers (http://www.giga-hamburg.de/english/index.php?file=teaching.html&folder
In July 2009, I have finished my D.Phil. thesis at the University of Oxford with the title "Power, Regions and Hegemony: India and South Africa Compared", which I will publish as a book with Routledge in 2011. I am currently also working on a project on the role of expectations on regional powers and have further developed an interest in regional environmental governance.
